Education Hour Classes for Adults
Lectionary Conversations & Insights: Discuss today’s lectionary texts. Often delving into the ’story behind the story,’ this class raises questions based on the scripture readings and will benefit those interested in biblical studies as well as those curious about further discussion of the day’s focus. Join in the parlor.
God is Still Speaking: Join an ever-changing yet always-welcoming group of adults for a conversation that links scripture, current events, and the soul-searching concept of enough together. We cover a lot of ground, but the most important thing is that we are together. Join us the Library/Worship & Wonder Room.
The Humanist Forum: A humanist, broadly defined, rejects supernaturalism and focuses on human dignity, betterment, and fulfillment through scientific inquiry and appreciation of the arts. Humanists desire to cultivate moral excellence, to eliminate discrimination and intolerance, to protect the earth and its creatures, and to uphold the separation of church and state, to name a few of their ideals. Our topics will include Mother Teresa, Robert G. Ingersoll, Joseph Smith, and Christopher Hitchens. Feel free to bring your own ideas as well. Additionally, we will attempt to understand what it means to be part of a “community of faith” without looking outside nature for salvation. This class starts September 19 in the Preschool Director’s Office.
