Freqently Asked Questions
FAQs:
What is the difference between Education Hour and Children’s Worship?
Education Hour is on Sunday mornings from 10:00 – 10:45 AM; September through May. Traditionally called “Sunday School,” classes are available for children as young as three years of age through high school, as well as several adult classes. To begin Education Hour, children ages 3 through 5th grade participate in “The Gathering” which includes 15 minutes of singing and offering. They are then accompanied by their teachers to their various classes.
Children’s Worship takes place year-round during the regular Sunday morning worship services. Preschool children and school age children through 3rd grade gather for a special time of worship each Sunday following the “Time of Sharing” with our pastors at both the 8:30 and 11:00 services.
Why do I need a background check?
In order to ensure the safety of our children, all prospective volunteers are asked to undergo a background check. This includes authorizing a criminal history verification conducted by the Indiana State Police. All volunteers will be notified with a reminder to complete a new background check authorization for a renewal check every five years.
I don’t have a lot of extra time. What can I do?
Our Children’s Worship Programs and Nursery need weekly helpers at each of the worship services. Helpers provide the “extra hands” and offer support to both the leader and the children during the worship services. No training or preparation is necessary!
I am good at planning and organizing, but I don’t want to work directly with children. Can I do anything to help?
Several of our volunteer positions would be right for you! The Education Hour Coordinator(s), Vacation Bible School Coordinator(s), and Trick-A-Trunk Coordinator(s) all include planning and organizing adults, not children!
