Homelessness

Interfaith Hospitality Network – St. Peter’s is part of a group of local congregations that provide temporary housing for homeless families for one week at a time, several times a year. Often families must split up as they face homelessness. Through the IHN effort, we strive to prevent families from experiencing even more upheaval as they struggle to find housing. During weeks that we host families, about fifty St. Peter’s folk volunteer for a variety of service tasks supporting these families: These include setting up the rooms, preparing breakfast and dinner, driving to and from the day center, coordinating activities for the children, supplying items for lunch preparation, staying overnight as a host to the families, and laundering the bedding at the end of the week. IHN is a great ministry opportunity for all ages.

Habitat for Humanity – A new build will be beginning on September 18.  Please stay tuned to our monthly newsletter to find out about how St. Peter’s can be involved with this build throughout the fall of 2010.
