Sister Congregation: Washington UCC in Cincinnati
Christmas with Washington UCC in Cincinnati
St. Peter’s helps our sister congregation, Washington UCC in Cincinnati, make Christmas a little brighter for the kids and families of Camp Washington that we have come to love through summer experiences over the past six years. Remember those faces? They appreciate of all that we are able to give and the many ways in which we are able to partner with them this Christmas. 2009 was our fourth year of participating in the Christmas Event at Washington UCC, and it is an honor to be involved with such a valuable and respectable ministry. Each year, Washington UCC sets up a “store” where local families shop for their Christmas gifts. All of the gifts are free, and wrapping paper is provided for the families as well so that they can prepare Christmas gifts for their families. Every child is given new clothing, toys, and other essentials for the holiday. Families are given blankets and other important winter items. Dignity, Compassion, and Christmas Spirit are key. This is a remarkable weekend and a truly hands-on experience. In the evenings, we’ll have time to reflect on what it means to be a community of faith, to serve the least among us, and to give from a place of generosity during the holiday season. Families, Adults, Youth – Please come! (Youth in 7th grade or older are welcome to come without a parent; younger kids need to be accompanied by a family member.) Truly, the more the merrier. Housing is free, as are breakfasts and lunches. We will pay for our own evening meal on Saturday night.
