Prayers

On Sunday, November 27, 2022, we celebrated the first Sunday of Advent. It included this Prayer of Confession that leads with Bring Your Full Self. 

Sometimes prayer is a ritual act. 

Today, many of us are greeted by a persistent grayness in the sky around us. The clouds are thick. The sun is hidden.  

Today, some of us feel a dreariness in our souls. 

Today, some of us hurt, but we’re not even sure why. 

And yet, today, there is hope, and it can be found in the simple act of lighting a candle. 

From one among us: “Prayers for the continued kindness to each other as this continues.” 23 people from St. Peter’s have been making calls to the congregation just to check in and stay connected. One caller received these words from one of you, and I believe it’s a lovely way to begin prayer today. For the continued kindness of each other as this continues, we pray…

I wore out my last pair of slippers, so I just bought these new ones. I’ll be honest: I bought the cheapest ones that were available in the brand that I need to wear to help my foot issue from about a year ago. And then, just for fun, I looked up the meaning of the panda bear as a spirit animal. I mean, yes, this was a clearance purchase, but maybe, just maybe, there was a message?
