Worship is a sacred time of prayer, scripture study, and storytelling, among other things. It’s a time for us to be together and to explore our understandings of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. It is a time for rituals and a time for spiritual formation.
In the fall of 2019, 24 storytellers – all members of our congregation – volunteered to share their stories of faith during worship. The inspiration was a dream that Pastor Lori had many years ago: a dream in which people were telling each other the stories that they often told her and the pastoral staff. It was beautiful. Truly, the pastoral staff loves hearing your stories; the content is inspiring, heart-wrenching, bewildering, tragic, laughable, and the list goes on. In a dream, Lori imagined those stories spreading into the world and transforming communities. It’s a vision that she can barely describe with words.
Pastor Lori’s dream became a reality while she was on sabbatical in Fall 2019. A different person told their story at the 8:30 and 11:00 worship services. Listen to the entire service to hear the sermon in which Pastor Becca and Ministry Intern Sam Locke connect each story to the scripture reading from the book of Psalms. May these stories be an inspiration and an opportunity for reflection.
